What Is EMC?
The purpose of EMC tests is to prove ability of device to withstand interference from other electrical or electronic equipment and verify its emission cannot cause harmful interference with other electrical or electronic equipment.
The main objective of the EMC is thus to regulate the compatibility of equipment regarding EMC. In order to achieve this objective, provisions have been put in place so that equipment needs to comply with the requirements of the EMC regulation when it is placed on the market and/or taken into service.
As so, Electrical and electronic products may be required Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) compliance testing due to
Directive 2004/108/EC of the European Parliament , United State Code of Federal Regulation (47 CFR, Part 15) , Military standards (MIL-STD), and other national Laws worldwide relating to electromagnetic compatibility.
